Hogan Memorial, Vinton IA
My first trip to the Benton County speedway of Vinton, but I am sure it won't be my last. The Hogan Memorial has to be the biggest little special around. Really no more cars than on a normal night, but the treatment of the Mod drivers really makes it seem HUGE! I wrecked in my heat, trying to pass 2 slower drivers, but managed to qualify for the A main through the B feature. Laps were spent racing the big name of the evening Landon Castle. He ended up winning out though, after I left the track with steering damage following a trip through a large hole in turn 3. Disappointed sure, but yet proud to say that I raced my way into my first real special! Hopefully more trips to Vinton will get me some more results!

Sometimes just hanging around till the end is all it takes to get a career best finish. 10th place is the best I have done at any of the tracks I have visited. I can't take to much away from myself though. Accident avoidance is something that a racer has to master, or at least succeed in so as to even be around for a finish, especially when you don't start out front! The heat went about like usual, with a start up front, and getting pushed out of the way. I guess there is a reason the bumper on the back is so bent! The pay check doesn't lie though. 10th it is!

Mid-season championships already! Defiantly doesn't seem like we are that far into the season, but I guess a month off in April will do that to a season. The season so far has been up and down. Lately the ups are getting higher, but that just makes the downs seem that much deeper. Only 2 weeks ago, I was asking how anyone could stand to do this racing thing for very many years. Its funny how a little luck can brighten an outlook. I'm back to having fun, and wanting to race. More seat time will only bring more success... I hope. This week, another best of 12th place. If the money holds, the luck will come!
